How to Keep Your Overthinking in Control and Worry Less

If you are someone who is constantly troubled with anxious thoughts and endless worries, we have a few tips that can help ease anxiety and calm your tensed mind.
Doubts, worries, and anxieties are things that are very much normal in life- especially given the current circumstances. And it’s completely natural to be worried about an upcoming interview for a job or a bill that’s unpaid. But, the only time these worries become unhealthy is when they’re uncontrollable and persistent. This is when you begin to worry every day about worst-case scenarios and “what ifs”. It becomes impossible for you to push the anxious thoughts out and away from your head and it stands in the way of your daily life.

If you are tortured by too much tension and worry, some things can be done to shut down your anxious thoughts. “Immedicable” worrying is not something that cannot be cured. This mental habit can be erased and the way to do so is by teaching and training your brain to stay calm at most times and look at your life from a less fearful, more balanced, and more positive point of view.
Here are a few tips that can help you out:
Tip 1: Break the Worry-Cycle
Get up and start moving. Exercise is an extremely effective way of treating anxiety and it’s completely natural. It boosts your energy, relieves stress and tension, and increases your sense of well-being.
Meditate. Meditation is the exercise of shifting your focus on the present and all that happens in a present moment, rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. You can break the endless loop of your negative thoughts by being fully engrossed in the present moment. Just find a comfortable, quiet place, and some meditation apps that can help you through the process.

Tip 2: Create a Daily Period for “Worrying”
Set a place and time for worrying. Make sure that it is the same every day, for example, in your bedroom from 4:40 to 5 pm. It is preferred that you do it during the daytime so that you don’t feel anxious right before going to bed. In those 20 minutes, you will permit yourself to worry about whatever there is on your mind. It will be called your worry period but, the rest of the day, you will not let yourself worry about a single thing- it will be your worry-free zone.

Bottom Line
It’s probable for the thoughts in your head to be completely negative if you are worrying exceedingly. You might be feeling as though you are crazy or out of control but, these thoughts can be interrupted by taking a few steps and giving yourself some time, rather than wasting it all worrying. Use the above tips to navigate through anxiety-driven and stressful times easily. After all, life is too short to spend it worrying all the time.
