Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. It leaves an everlasting effect on those who suffer from it as it affects the patient both mentally and physically. According to the National Cancer Institute, statistics show that in the year 2018 around 18.1 million cases of cancer and 9.5 million deaths related to cancer were recorded. A shocking estimate states that by 2040, the number of new cancer cases is seen to rise up to 29.5 million.

The best routine to include in your day to have at least 30 minutes of moderate activity- this can include cycling, a walk in the park, swimming, and much more.

2. Following a Healthy Diet
Similarly, a healthy diet is beneficial for the body. It provides you with the proper nutrients needed to carry out an active lifestyle. In the United Kingdom, studies have indicated that Bowel Cancer is the second leading cancer type and globally it is the fourth leading cancer type. With a diet full of fruits and vegetables and calculated portions, you can lessen the chances of developing bowel cancer.
3. Maintaining a Healthy Weight
It is estimated that around 63% of adults in the United Kingdom are overweight. A study conducted by Cancer Research UK shows that around 22,800 cases can easily be prevented by maintaining a healthy weight. The Body-Mass Index can help you in providing a guideline regarding your weight. BMI of 25 and over are considered to be overweight and BMI of 30 indicates obesity.

4. Avoiding Alcohol
Alcohol can pose a major threat to your overall health. Medical experts state that one should not drink more than six glasses of wine a week. Alcohol can definitely increase the risk of developing many diseases such as cardiovascular problems and cancer.

5. Refraining from smoking
Many people across the world lose their lives to lung cancer and it takes the third position on the most common type of cancers in the United Kingdom. Just with the simple act of avoiding smoking, 79% of cases can be prevented. The carcinogens from the cigarette can immensely damage the lungs and their capacity to work.
